Dogs++
Dogs++ is a puzzle platformer about creating an unstable tower of dogs on your head. Made for Ludum Dare 49, with the theme "Unstable".
Controls
🐕Left & Right Arrow Keys / A & D - Move
🐕 Space / Z - Jump
🐕 Up & Down Arrow Keys / W & S - Switch which dog you are controlling
🐕 R - Reset level
🐕 M - Mute music
If you get stuck, I put together a playthrough that shows you how to beat each level!
List of bug fixes / porting changes:
- Skip frames so the game doesn’t slow down on slower machines
- Remove random variance in dog speed that I forgot to remove
- Prevent dogs from getting stuck in walls

I'm still amazed by the music in this game, simple but very melodic! What tracker or DAW did you use? Furnace, BeepBox? Any sound chip? It sounds like NES or Game Boy! Thank you so much for this game!
Thanks! For this I'm pretty sure I just used my usual set of tools which is GarageBand + Magical 8 bit plugin - which generally emulates the NES or Gameboy hardware. So you're right in picking that! Pretty sure I used a lot more tracks than the either of those would support though, and possibly some extra reverb
The truth is that I have that song saved here because it's been really useful for studying a bit of composition. If I’m not mistaken, it follows the AA'B structure in sentence form. Thank you very much, Jez!

Haha, I didn't intend for them to be invisible, just the game doesn't render stuff outside the main section of the level for optimization reasons. Otherwise it gets too slow haha.

These pups are SO CUTE!! The music and environment suit it as well!! I'm glad we don't have to Yoshi- sacrifice them into a pit like in Mario lol. Excellent game Jez!!
